Being a traveler never hurts for inspiration. Ask Deca. Coming from the mountains of Colorado, relocating to LA and now finding a home in Queens NY,he is not short of a hip hop story line. A beatsmith that rhymes with Denver street mentality is not the exact person you’d expect to land the cover of XXL next month, but the element of surprise may beg you to differ. Behind the MPC/Mic for 13 years telling tales of boom bap with lines like “My man was in the parking lot doped up, He nodded out and never woke up,” send chills down the average listeners spine. Having opened up for the likes of Talib Kweli, Blackalicious, and Redman, and rocking crowds over his own production will soon put him in the ranks as Havoc of Mobb Deep and Black Milk. NYC seems to bring the flavor out of every artist that comes here, and with a new life and a new home,his sell produced introduction to the world with “Due Time” proves he is here at the right time.
