Jhene Aiko – To Love & Die (CA)

June 30th, 2014 | By Janei

Jhene kicks it with Cocaine 80s for her next single, “To Love & Die“. In Jhene fashion, she poetically sings that she wears her heart on her sleeve, and takes all matters seriously. Not sure if this will be featured on Jhene’s Def Jam debut, “Souled Out“, but it is great to hear new music from the rising flower princess.

Devine Carama – Martin Didn’t Die For This (KY)

January 20th, 2014 | By Janei

In the spirit of Martin Luther King Day, Devine Carama spits about what he didn’t have in mind of what we call “freedom” today. As part of his Music Monday series, this track will be featured on his upcoming project, “Dream Walkers” dropping next month. “Martin Didn’t Die For This” is produced and directed by Raddiculous Productions.

“Whether its the sacrifice that Martin Luther King and many others made for the advancement and progress of this generation or the history Barack Obama made in becoming the first black president, it seems many of us are attempting to denigrate that progress instead of continuing to advance it. Seeing flyer’s with MLK’s image on it throwing up gang signs with gold chains around his neck this past weekend was it for me.. That frustration led to this track and visual.”
