I recently read a article about how Hip Hop use to be the Black CNN, when regular news wouldn’t inform us with stories or the real truth of what was going on in our communities. With all that has happened between Mike Brown and Eric Garner, where was Hip Hop? Are we still turning up in the clubs? Are we still injecting ass shots for a better stripper career? The article almost made me feel like we lost a piece of the hip hop culture until I started seeing dedicated songs about Ferguson.
‘The Sober Poet’, Stann Smith, is one of the few artists that are keeping us aware of what is going on in the world. He gives us his latest dedicated single, “Ferguson“. Stann’s “Ferguson” is the outcry of police brutality from young black men inspired by the death of Michael Brown #EKOET. “Ferguson” is the first track from Stann’s newly launched ‘EKOET Winsday’ series.
